Ingredients and equipment:

1.5 cups Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda)

1 cup Citric Acid

10 mL fragrance oil or essential oil or baby powder fragrance oil of your choice

10-15 drops colorant

Witch Hazel (in a spray bottle)

Droppers with Suction Bulb

2-3 Stainless Steel Bath Bomb Molds

Mesh Strainer

Optional preparation of the molds: To make unmolding of the bath bombs easier, add 5-10 drops of Cyclomethicone inside each half of the Stainless Steel Bath Bomb molds. Swirl it around so that there is a thin coat covering the inside of the molds. Make sure that the excess Cyclomethicone runs out, you can place the molds on paper towels.

Gender reveal bath bomb instructions

Step 1: Place the mesh strainer over the top of a bowl. Measure the sodium bicarbonate and citric acid and pour into the bowl through the strainer. Work any clumps through the strainer.

Step 2: Add the fragrance oil to the mixture. Use your hands and mix until the fragrance oil is not longer causing clumps.

If you are sensitive to fragrance, cut the fragrance out, or decrease it to half the amount.

Step 3: Spray Witch Hazel, 5-10 spritzes into the bowl and mix well. Make sure to add just enough moisture so that the mixture holds together, but isn’t too sticky. Add witch hazel until the mixture reaches a consistency that you like. You can test this by squishing some of the mixture in your hands. It should mostly hold together.

Step 4: Fill one-half of each of the bath bomb molds with your mix. Press the mix as compact as possible. Make a crater with your thumb, about 1/2″ deep in the center of the mold. Make a color choice and add 10-15 drops of colorant into each crater. Fill the crater with more bath bomb mix, and create a small bump in the center of the mould.

Step 5: Fill the other half of each of the bath bomb molds all the way with bath bomb mix. Create a small bump in the center. Press two halves of the mold together, one colored half and one uncolored half. Make sure there is no gap between the two halves.

Step 6: Wait about 5 minutes and unmold the bath bombs. Twist the mold halves slowly and remove one half of the mold. If the second half of the mold is not quite ready to release yet, wait 5-10 minutes and then gently tap the mold from behind.
